BharatiShipyard, Apeejay Shipping sign JV to build shipyard along Eastcoast 

* JV to invest Rs2,000 crore in new shipyard

Mumbai, October 15, 2007: Bharati Shipyard Limited, one of the leading Private Sector Shipyard and Apeejay Shipping Ltd, one of the largest private ship owners, today announced that they have signed a 50:50 Joint Venture Agreement, for setting up a large modem shipbuilding yard along the Eastern Coast of the country. Bharati Shipyard Ltd and Apeejay Shipping Ltd are in the process of jointly finalizing the site and shall announce the location in the coming weeks.

The proposed joint venture, which is the first of its kind in India to bring synergy between a reputed Shipbuilder and a leading Shipping company, is expected to commence operations by 2009.

Bharati and Apeejay would jointly invest in the state of the art technology and modem shipbuilding and ship repair facilities and would have the capacity to build and repair vessels of all sizes upto VLCC.

Mr. V. Kumar, Managing Director, Bharati Shipyard Limited said: "I am extremely proud to announce our association with Apeejay Shipping, as our complimentary skill sets bring immense value to the N. We expect growing demand, and our new shipyard along the East Coast is expected to partly fulfill this requirement. Bharati Shipyard Limited, one of the leading Private Sector Shipyard, has signed a contract with GREAT OFFSHORE LTD for construction and supply of One Multipurpose Offshore Support Vessel. The Contract value of the vessel is US $64.80 million (i.e. App. Rs. 266.32 crore).

The vessel has a diesel electric propulsion system with 5 generators of a total power of 10500 KW (14000HP). The vessel has all the equipment to support ROV / Diving / Sub sea operations. The power would be used to drive two Azimuth frequency controlled thrusters of 6600 KW and two retractable frequency controlled thrusters of 3000 KW.

The vessel also has dynamic positioning system and integrated power management system with full redundancy for DP2 operation.

The vessel is equipped with a very sophisticated electro hydraulic knuckle
boom crane which is active heave compensated and is suitable for depths up to 3000 m and lifting capacity up to 150T. 

Among other features, the vessel has a helipad and Anchor handling cum towing winch of 300T.

This is the first time that such a Sophisticated and technologically advanced Multipurpose Offshore Support Vessel is being made in India.

The above contract is in lieu of contract dated 24-3-2006 for One Multipurpose Offshore Support Vessel valued at US$ 17.44 million (i.e. App. 77.51 crore) ordered by Great Offshore Limited on BSL. 

Great offshore is India's prominent integrated offshore oilfield services provider offering a broad spectrum of services to upstream oil and gas producers to carry out offshore exploration and production (E&P) activities.

Bharati Shipyards bags Rs 260 cr order to build two 150-tonnes bollard pull AHTSV

*Total order book stand at Rs. 3,723.65 crores, comprising of  41 vessels

Bharati Shipyards Limited, one of the leading Private Sector Shipyards, has bagged the largest order for AHTSVs, being placed in India, by any European company. Norwegian Offshore Shipping I Ltd., of Norway has chosen Bharati Shipyards to place their order for 2 Nos. AHTSV at a contract value of $65.1 million (i.e. App. Rs. 260 crores).

The AHTSVs function as a support and Supply Vessel in Rig operations as also help in anchor handling facilities to position the rig appropriately. The normal tonnage ordered is between 80 T to 120 T.

The Net Profit increased to Rs 73.2 crores during April 2006 – March 2007 from Rs. 51.1 crores in April 2005 – March 2006. BSL has a dividend-paying track record since the company went public in 2004. The company has declared dividend of 25 % during April 2005- March 2006.

Man Ferrostaal AG of Germany has ordered 2 Nos. Latest Generation Large PSVs with Bharati Shipyard Limited. The Contract value of each vessel is 38 million totaling to 76.00 million (i.e. App. Rs. 418 crore).

These vessels are 105 m in length and are fitted with 2 sets of Voith cycloidal Propeller Units at the stern powered by electrical prime mover for diesel Electric Propulsion. Classed with Germanishcher Lloyd, the vessels will have free running speeds of 17 Knots. Bharati is proud to announce the above order as it contains rare combination of a Large PSV with a higher speed. Bharati shall also carry out the detailed engineering for the above vessels in its in-house design center.

The vessel would have cargo Deck area of 1400 sq. meter and will have capacity of 2500 tons Deck load.

This is the first time that such a latest generation PSVs with Voith Cycloidal Propeller Units is being made in Asia. As on date, there are only 3 such vessels in operation worldwide.

MAN Ferrostaal, is an industrial service provider forming part of the MAN group having presence in more than 60 countries. MAN Ferrostaal has an annual turnover of about  € 1,379 million.

With the above orders, our total order book stands at Rs. 3,554 crores comprising of 41 vessels.

Bharati Shipyard forays into South America

* First Indian company to receive shipbuilding order from a South American group.

Mumbai, April 23, 2007: Bharati Shipyard Limited, one of the leading Private Sector Shipyard, has signed a contract with UP OFFSHORE (BAHAMAS) LTD, for construction and supply of two Platform Supply Vessels.

The Contract value of these two vessels is US $43.30 million (approximately Rs 180 crores).

It is the first time in the history of Indian shipbuilding industry that an INDIAN COMPANY has received a shipbuilding contract from a SOUTH AMERICAN COUNTRY.

A Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) is a ship specially designed to support offshore oil platforms. The primary function of these ships is to service the offshore oil platforms including supply of Drilling mud, pulverized cement, diesel fuel, portable and non-portable water and chemicals used in the drilling process.

UP Offshore (Bahamas) Ltd., a subsidiary of Ultrapetrol (Bahamas) Ltd., is engaged in construction and operation of Platform Supply Vessels that provide services to offshore petroleum exploration and production companies primarily in the North Sea and Brazil.

Ultrapetrol group operates in four business segments with a total fleet of 568 vessels consisting of Offshore Supply Vessels, Ocean Fleet (including Suezmax OBOs), River Fleet and Passenger Fleet.

• Bharati Acquires all the Shipyard Machinery and Equipments of Swan Hunter Shipyard Wallsend, Newcastle – upon Type

Mumbai April, 16, 2007: Bharati Shipyard Limited, on of the Leading Shipyards in India has acquired all the shipyard machinery and
Equipments of Swan Hunter (Typeside) Shipyard Ltd. Through this acquisition BSL acquires fully automated panel lines, quayside traveling
gantry cranes upto 180T capacity, 30 overhead traveling cranes upto 60T capacity, Plate bending rolls of 2000 ton capacity, bending presses,
robotic profiling machines, CNC plasma Buring Equipments, etc.

These equipments will be used by BSL at its existing yards as well as for its Greenfield projects, BSL has also acquired the 20,000-ton lift
capacity floating dock of Swan Hunter Shipyard, which will add a lot of value to its existing operations. This acquisition would help BSL to save
cost and lead-time, which would have otherwise been spent in procuring the new machineries and equipments.

Swan Hunter Shipyard is an internationally renowned shipbuilding yard. Swan Hunter was engaged in shipbuilding, ship conversion and
construction of offshore structures. It had capacity to build vessels upto 1,00,000 DWT. During its 130 years of existences, Swan Hunter built
over 1,600 ships of various types including more than 400 naval vessels.

• Bharati Shipyard Limited, one of the largest private sector shipyards in India has bagged a contract from Reliance Industries Ltd. for construction of 6 vessels including 1 diving support vessel. These vessels will be used by M/s. Reliance Industries Ltd. for Its Offshore terminal Jamnagar and the contract value of the same is approx. Rs.120 crores.

• With this order Company's current order book position is Rs.1,586 crores and the unexecuted order book position is Rs.1157 Crores which is 4.45 times the turnover for the F.Y. 2005-06.
